BPMN offers the Timer Boundary event, which is very useful if e.g. a message task should stop waiting for a message after a certain period of time, and a timeout should be triggered. See TimerBoundaryEventOnTask.png

If the timeout does not comprise one single task only, but a sequence of separate tasks, how should this be modeled in BPMN?

2nd trial: So far I tried two approaches, see pictures below.

    1. callActivity with timer boundary event

    2. separate timeout process

Has anyone got any other suggestions / or (successful) experiences?
